John B. Pyka has set himself apart as an entertainer with his unique fusion of music, magic, and theater to create unforgettable, larger than life characters who do amazing and impossible things. As an entertainer John has appeared all over the country performing for millions of people in nearly every venue imaginable; from singing at Carnegie Hall, to performing magic on MTV's Spring Break. He has appeared on the PBS documentary Magical Time Travelers, the BBC documentary The Convention Crasher and appeared as “Big Daddy Cool” in the Off-Broadway production of Swingin' At The Roxy.
John has performed in some of the best restaurants and nightclubs in the country, including the Improv, The Laugh Factory, Zanies, Bamboozles, and Saratoga Spring's premiere nightspot, Gaffiney's.
In addition, he has performed for numerous corporate clients, including Shell Oil, Habitat for Humanity, Dollar General, Symantec, Crysler, and the Amway Corporation. John is a published author, having written two books on the subject of magic – Theatrical Magic published by Leaping Lizards and How To Produce Your Own Theater Show published by Lybrary.com.
Further, he is the creator and producer of popular variety shows like The Magic Cabaret, Opry Mills Olde Time Family Theater (with The Radio City Rockettes), The Opry Mills Holiday Family Theater and Music City Magic!
One of John's talents as a performer is to create unforgettable, larger than life characters. He has played some of the great characters in theater like The Cowardly Lion, Jud Fry, Rooster Hannigan, Marryin' Sam, Norman Bulansky, Buffalo Bill and Mr. Bumble. He has created several original characters, including the 1940s swing magician Big Daddy Cool, the past-his-prime vaudevillian Uncle Eddie Sparks, and the World Heavywieght Champion strongman Johnny Awesome! At Christmas, he even appears as Magic Santa!
John's shows fuse music, magic and theater in a program suitable for venues and events looking for something fresh and unique. There are no tuxedos, no cheesy jokes, and never a top hat or rabbit in site!
